The Leader of The Nationals in the Senate, Ron Boswell, has welcomed the recent announcement by the Australian Government of funding for community initiatives in the Kennedy electorate that will help better manage water resources.
Successful projects in the electorate received a total of more than $800,000 through the Community Water Grants component of the $2 billion Australian Government Water Fund.

“The federal Environment Minister’s offer of $200,000 to the Queensland Seafood Industry Organisation (QSIA) will save the voice of Queensland’s fishing industry,” said The Nationals’ Leader in the Senate, Senator Ron Boswell today.

A team of young volunteers is working to improve the environmental health of the Herbert River Catchment Wetlands by removing weeds and undertaking revegetation work, Leader of The Nationals in the Senate, Ron Boswell, said today.
Senator Boswell congratulated the young members of the Ingham Green Corps project for their commitment to enhancing the local environment in the Catchment and the Tyto Wetlands.
Green Corps is a youth initiative of the Australian Government that provides young people with the opportunity to conserve, preserve and restore Australia’s natural environment and cultural heritage.
“In partnership with the Hinchinbrook Shire Council, the Herbert River Catchment Group and Greening Australia, this team in Ingham will work to cut and spray the African Tulip weed in the Wetlands (with the assistance of the Mungulla Aboriginal Business Corporation), revegetate various sites, monitor water quality, complete flora and fauna surveys, and research tourism in the area for the benefit for the community.
